Alert against GIO is defamatory and unconstitutional

Alert against GIO is defamatory and unconstitutional

Mumbai, 31st March, 2013
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind is a Socio-Religious Organisation working for Peace, justice and upliftment of Education and Moral values in India. Whereas Girls Islamic Organisation GIO, is its daughter Organisation, instituted to provide them both Islamic and modern education.  It also aims to cultivate values and ideals among the coming generation on Islamic lines.
The Special Branch of Maharashtra Intelligence has issued a defamatory notice against Girls Islamic Organization (GIO) and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind. It is a result of the communal minds intruded in our Administrative, Intelligence and Security agencies.
This alert is a part of the International Conspiracy to malign and demonize Islam and Muslims. It will damage Muslim’s image, already under cloud, and will lead to the alienation of Muslims in India. It will also create a sense of fear and hatred among other Indians and will definitely harm the already fragile communal harmony.
Hence, we are taking very serious note of this and seeking legal opinion to defend our constitutional rights and our image as well.
We like to inspect, If Maharashtra intelligence agencies have any inputs against us and are ready for any kind of investigation and scanning at any point of time. At the same time we will not allow them to tarnish the image of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and its sister organizations or of Muslims any further.
Statement of Sanjay Shintre Deputy Commissioner Special Branch, Mumbai, infamous for raids in Muslim Pockets in the name of Bangladeshis, is irresponsible, derogatory and Unconstitutional. Will he issue the same alerts for Sadhvis and Nuns who are practicing Hinduism and Christianity in this modern world?
Practicing and Preaching of religion is a fundamental right guaranteed under our constitution & can’t be a base to issue alerts.
